About the Course
A combination mindfulness and distress tolerance skill, Mindfulness of Current Thoughts is about learning how to observe your inner world (even in an intense state) without reacting to it or letting it control you. Sound nearly impossible that you would have an intense thought or feeling and not react to it? It's not easy, and this skill is one of the most advanced skills Kate teaches. The portion of the course specific to Mindfulness of Current Thoughts is just over 45 minutes, and in the training Kate will point you to supplemental trainings that will help you master this coping skill that can be life changing if your emotions or impulses control you more than you'd like.
About the Creator: Kate
Hi, I'm Kate, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a private counseling practice in Chicago. I've been providing therapy and teaching coping skills for years, and have seen them change hundreds of lives. What I bring to this course is my clinical experience; it's not just about knowing "what to do" in a tough moment, it's also about overcoming barriers to "doing it". In the course I'll help you get through common barriers associated with building and using coping skills so you can apply them to your life. It doesn't have to be so hard.
